Ever since his debut in 2008 with the inspirational R&B/Soul album “New Moments New Choice,” Donnell Isaac (born Donnell Isaac Charlton) has been a dynamic force in music and business. With a voice that blends classic soul with contemporary emotion, Donnell has built a career defined by authenticity, resilience, and creative excellence.

His early momentum quickly captured national attention. In 2010, he signed a distribution deal with Indie Charts/Kingdom Records under Executive Bernie McLean, home to renowned artists such as Shekinah Glory and The Whispers. His breakout single, “Shelter from The Storm,” dominated the Radio BDS 100 charts for over 16 weeks, marking him as a rising voice in inspirational soul music. His remake of the late Rev. Paul Jones’ “I Won’t Complain” earned him the 2014 Chosen Voice Award in Tampa, Florida for Best New Artist, solidifying his place as an emerging star.

Beyond music, Donnell has showcased his versatility through television and film appearances, including roles on Law & Order and the movie My Brother. In 2022, he further expanded his creative portfolio by writing and recording “We Wish You a Merry Fishmas” for the Long John Silver’s Merry Fishmas compilation project, demonstrating his ability to blend artistry with commercial creativity.

Donnell’s musical journey began at the age of nine in Portsmouth, Virginia, singing in the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church choir. His gift was nurtured by his great aunt, Fairfield Jackson, and further developed while performing with his family gospel group, The Gospel Swannetts. From early original songs like “Happiness Is Just a Step Away” to “Never Change Your Heart’s Desire” and “It’s My Season,” Donnell’s music has consistently carried themes of empowerment, perseverance, and hope.

He has performed at numerous community and charitable venues including the YWCA of Newark, Edison Job Corps, Kessler Institute of West Orange, and notable Brooklyn venues such as the legendary Frank’s Lounge — always using music as a bridge to uplift and inspire.

Entrepreneurial Vision

In 2021, Donnell expanded his creative expression into the world of fine wine with the launch of Sensual Amour, his signature wine brand. Designed to embody elegance, intimacy, and refined taste, Sensual Amour reflects Donnell’s passion for creating experiences that awaken the senses — whether through music or lifestyle.

Continuing his entrepreneurial journey, Donnell is also the owner of A’Leurer, an upscale soul-food restaurant located in Greensboro, North Carolina. A’Leurer has become known for delivering elevated Southern cuisine with live music, elegance, and community-centered hospitality. The restaurant blends Donnell’s love for soulful artistry with culinary excellence, creating an immersive dining experience that reflects his personal brand: “Elegance in Every Bite.”
